3 out of 5 stars 3 out of 5 stars!   An average headphone for high class price. 2010-10-05

With priced at a high end headphones with a company like this , one expects a quality sound when you wear this . And guess what you do get a sound quality, but the collateral irritations that this headphone brings makes you to re0think why was one tempted to buy this item. 1. Twisted cables - Just after few wearings the cables start getting twisted and they cling onto your neck. 2. Long wires unable to drag. 3. It does not fit onto different ear sizes.

5 out of 5 stars 5 out of 5 stars!   These headphones work suprisingly well! 2010-09-30

The only thing I really don't like about these headphones are the LONG LONG LONG LONG LONG cords. Sound quality is comparable to an 80$ pair of headphones I had, and this one is 4x as less. Get it.

4 out of 5 stars 4 out of 5 stars!   Acceptable, not great. 2010-09-28

I have been using this headphone for about one week. Generally, I am satisfied with it for what I invest. Pros: Design and quality are good--this headphone is one of those will last for years. Sound quality is OK for a 20 bucks product. Cons: But if you want a professional gamingmusic headphone, forget it. Sound leaking is significant and noise isolating is null. The biggest problem is the wire---tooooooooooooooooo long. Not ever portable at all. It is no perfect headphone. But it is good enough for what it costs.

5 out of 5 stars 5 out of 5 stars!   Excellent, especially for this price! 2010-09-27

I had read reviews before purchasing that endorsed this product as having sound quality far beyond it's price point. I bought them confident that they would be a good product for the money I forked over ($20). However, I was actually blown away by the quality. This set is actually very comfortable but more importantly, has incredible sound quality. Great range, great depth. Phenomenal. For this price, these headphones beat all it's competition.

    4 out of 5 stars 4 out of 5 stars!   Decent 2010-07-05

I am by no means an audiophile nor have I ever heard of Sennheiser before purchasing these headphones. First off the sound quality is everything I look for in a headphone set. However I like to rattle my brain with loud music and these headphone just won't get very loud. Now granted my computer is a piece of crap and it may be at fault and if I purchase a new one I will change my review. The headphones aren't too heavy like many over the ear sets. One thing I don't really like is the chord which is around 10 feet long. More than anything it just gets in the way if using these headphones for a pc. They are very comfortable. Even though they won't blow out my eardrums at higher volumes they do cancel out all but the loudest noises from the environment. Even at the highest volume I could make them pump out no one else in my immediate vicinity could hear the music which is a major plus on my part and the only reason I give them a 4 instead of 3. All in all a very good product for the price, but if you like really loud music I would suggest something different.

2 out of 5 stars 2 out of 5 stars!   hugely disappointed 2010-06-30

always 've been sennheiser fan, but it was never cheap, but i was ok with that, as for a good quality u need to pay. when i discovered HD201 on amazon i thought that price must be a mistake, but then i realized its for real. so i thought i'll give it a try, although i was pretty sure for that small amount of money i wont be able to get anything good and it turned out i was right. sound quality is more or less ok, somewhere bit below average, but real problem is a level of sound, no matter what u do it will stay low and when i say low i mean it (tried even few amplifiers) so title of my review is hugely disappointed and that not because i spent my money for nothing (as i already wrote i did not expect really something from this headphones) but because company like sennheiser (that i really like since many years) should not release crap like this!

5 out of 5 stars 5 out of 5 stars!   Good product 2010-06-28

Purchased for work to be shared by team for use at individual workspaces when doing online trainings without disturbing others. Ear cushions can be easily cleaned after use. Comfortable for a variety of users. Sounds quality good for our needs, although we are not listening to music much - mostly speaking.

    2 out of 5 stars 2 out of 5 stars!   Dud 2010-06-27

I bought these mainly because of Sennheiser big name in the headphone industry. They were terrible. Sound quality was abismal, and sounded very very hollow. No highs, lows, or mids for that fact. There was no comfort at all, and I was very dissapointed with the headphones. The only positive was the length of the cord. It was massive! However, overall I can't recommend the product. It may have just been the set I got, but I didn't get another one to find out.

5 out of 5 stars 5 out of 5 stars!   Great Headphones with Small Problems 2010-06-23

I'll get right to the point, here are the pros and cons with a quick summary. Pros: The sound quality is amazing. I've tested the Bose Over-Ear headphones and that cost $100+ and these headphones almost match them. The ear pads a decently comfortable, so far they haven't broken in much and still are flat. Broken in ones tend to be softer and puffier. The plastic is very durable and the design of the headphones looks good. When looking at the headphones, not a single plastic mold mark is visible, perfection. The plastic is also very strong and hard to break. I backed into a wall really hard with them on my backpack, sandwiched them, and they didn't even crack. The headphones come with a larger golden color jack for use with pianos and larger recording machines. Lots of bass in them. Cons: Even though the sound quality is great, the bass sometimes gets a little distorted with the Apple iPod Bass Booster in music settings (you really won't need it) The cord is 10 feet long and can get a little troublesome. Either get a zip tie or a rubberband to fix that. Every time I wear these headphones, my ears get a little sore on the top. It just matters where you place them. Try squeezing the soft cushions til their worn in the place, it will make them more comfortable too. A minor, nit-picky problem with the headphones is that they don't fold up. If you want headphones that fold, get the PX-100's by Sennheiser. Summary: Overall, these headphones are a steal for the price. At $[...], they give loads of bass with incredible sound quality and have the durability and looks of much more expensive headphones. These headphones should be $60... If your the cheapo kind of person like me, buy these, you won't be disappointed. 3 out of 5 stars 3 out of 5 stars!   Noise Canceling? Nope 2010-05-26

I was lead to believe that these were noise canceling. They sound great, but I wanted noise canceling because I am taking a long plane ride and did not want to be bothered. Do not misunderstand, they sound great, but if you wanted noise canceling go else where.

5 out of 5 stars 5 out of 5 stars!   Best Headphones for under $50, let alone under $25 2010-05-21

I could not be happier with this purchase. I wanted great quality audio with as much comfort as possible. Sennheiser has been the benchmark for headphones for many years now. This brand and model clearly were the best choice. The adjustability of the headphones on your head is very unique and helpful for anyone who normally has problems getting headphones to fit "just right." I would highly recommend these to anyone looking at a great brand at a STEAL of a price. Considering buying more just to have extras they are so cheap.

5 out of 5 stars 5 out of 5 stars!   Why These Headphones Deserve Five Stars 2010-05-21

Although there is still some small room for improvement with the Sennheiser HD201 Headphones (see below), they definitely exceeded all of my expectations, especially considering their ultra-low price. I've only owned a single pair of headphones that I felt were equal to these in quality, and those were Pioneer Studio headphones that I paid a small fortune for in the 1970's. Here's a quick rundown of the pros and cons of the product:

    PROS:

    - Price: You get a LOT more than you pay for. Excellent quality at any price.
    - Great dynamic range: FULL bass, excellent frequency response across the entire audio spectrum.
    - Very comfortable: I've never seen this before, but the earcups actually swivel to give you a true "custom" fit.
    - No skimping on cord length: Not sure of exact length, but is at LEAST 6' long.
    - Great external noise cancellation: The custom fit helps to block out more outside noise than probably 95% of other headphones.
    - No skimping on construction: Both the earcups AND top of the headband are well-padded. Adds to comfort.
    - Quality plug: Unlike most brands, this model has flexible, molded strain relief for the plug. Should prevent fraying of wires due to strain placed on the cord.
    - Simple packaging: Cardboard box with small amount of foam to prevent damage. Hassle-free to open, and environmentally-friendly.

    CONS:

    - Would be nice if the label for the right/left earcups were a different color, easier to see.
    - Would be nice to have manual volume or mute control along the cord.

The "cons" are more nitpicking than anything else, or I wouldn't still give this product five stars, obviously. I almost picked the cheaper ($15) Sony headphones on Amazon. I'm glad that I "splurged" and spent the extra $5 to get the Sennheiser HD201 Headphones though. I've never heard of the company before, but I've bought a lot of "name brand" products as of late that were absolute junk, so I wouldn't hesitate buying these due to their lack of brand name recognition.

I also personally prefer the fact that these headphones surround your entire ear(s). I have NEVER found a pair of "earbud" headphones that provided decent audio. Most of the models that just barely cover your ears (that don't use what I refer to as "earcups") not only have horrible ambient noise cancellation, but lack bass response to the point where serious adjustment to a graphic equalizer is necessary to hear anything beyond the middle-range (vocals). Most of them are painful to wear and you are SOL insofar as getting anything close to quality sound if your listening device doesn't have an EQ. Not so with these.

    I highly, highly recommend them.

    5 out of 5 stars 5 out of 5 stars!   Fascinating!! 2010-05-17

A Great Deal for the quality and price! A nice pair for on the go and reference. Excellent sound for a mid-range set. If you're someone who is looking for something comfortable with some real dynamic sound, this is a real good set. Sennheiser makes high quality headphones!

5 out of 5 stars 5 out of 5 stars!   Perfect for me. 2010-05-16

For $20 or less these headphones are great. I wanted good headphones for about $20 or less and these seem to be among the best at this price range. I was trying to avoid lower quality ones at the $10 price range like the JVCs. For $10 more these headphones were definitely worth it. The other ones I considered:

    Sennheiser HD 202 Headphones

I passed on these slightly more expensive Sennheisers because they didn't get good reviews for comfort which was really important to me. These HD201's are very comfortable, my ears never hurt nor have I had any other type of discomfort and I have used them for as many as 3 hours in one sitting.

    Sony MDR-XD200 Stereo Headphones

I passed on these Sony's mainly because the last Sony headphones I had broke, and looking back they weren't nearly as comfortable as the HD201's. However those were different headphones then the one listed above. The MDR-XD200 look like huge cans.

Yes, there is a long cord which can be a pro or con. I see it as a pro, worst thing that has happened is it has been run over by my chair a few times, but no problems really if your somewhat mindful of it.

The other concern, the volume isn't loud enough. The volume is fine with me, last Sony headphones I had I cranked a little to high and have read listening to music or whatever at high volumes can be harmful for your ears. Since that is something I wanted to avoid anyways, the volume level their at (which can be fairly loud) is fine with me. At the highest level volume these headphones will not hurt your ears. If you need loud music to pump you up while your working out or something, you may want to get different set of headphones as that is the only reason I could see where it would matter.

For games they're perfect, every footstep or action can be heard with clarity such as in Modern Warfare 2. I've tried playing Left 4 Dead 2, and for that game for some reason the volume can be a tad loud, I like it though as it heightens the intensity. If your going to use voice chat then you'll need to get gaming headphones with a mic attached, the Tritton's are fairly decent. However if you don't need a mic, I'd recommend these.

I think I've gotten spoiled with these headphones because after using them almost exclusively with anything I do with the computer, my normal speakers sound horrible in comparison.

I've had these headphones 5 months and used them for gaming, listening to music, & watching movies, and they're still doing great. Highly recommended.
